Bethesda Now Own All Rights To A Fallout MMO

Fun while it lasted.

Video gaming sites are reporting that Interplay have completely lost any rights to make a Fallout massively multiplayer online game with intellectual property rights now belonging solely to Bethesda. Interplay have been fined $2 million by Bethesda owners Zenimax as part of the deal.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Books #06 The Cabin in the Woods

Cabin fever.

This is a little series I am starting where I go through several books from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Number #06 The Cabin in the Woods, Volume II by Mogen Son of Molag.

This book is a tale of a soldier and a sobbing ghost. It is also similar to the 2012 horror thriller film “The Cabin in the Woods”. It is found throughout many places in Skyrim.

Rumor: Diablo III Release Date [Update!]

Diablo would be disappointed.

According to Best Buy and Joystiq, Diablo III is heading to stores at the beginning of next month. A display spotted at a Best Buy shop shows Diablo III being advertised for a midnight launch on the 1st February. Also Best Buy’s website lists the same date.

Apparently UK retailer Gameplay is showing a 3rd February 2012 release date for Diablo III. Which means there might be some truth in the actual release dates.

South Park: The Game Screenshots

Guns Don't Kill People, Sign Posts Do.

Some South Park screenshots have been recently released. In South Park The Game you controls a new kid arriving in South Park. This will involve journeying around and making both friends and enemies. Characters that have been discovered will be added to a social database which can be used later on. South Park: The Game has small character parties and 2D style combat with classes such as fighter, mage, thief and cleric.

Impressive Steam Statistics

The number game.

Steam have passed five million concurrent users on the 2nd of January which was likely caused by the popularity of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the Steam Christmas Sale. Valve have also confirmed that Steam had passed 30 million active accounts from October 2010 which has likely increased significantly since then.

More stats have been released which show some even more impressive Steam related figures.

Game Developers Choice Award Nominees Announced

Video game awards.

The finalists for the 12th annual Game Developers Choice Awards have been announced.

The winners will be announced at the Game Developers Conference on 7th March. The awards contain ten categories with Bastion and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim likely to do well. I have also added my predictions for who I think will win.

Firaxis Games is Making a New X-COM: Enemy Unknown

Civilization franchise developer Firaxis Games is remaking X-COM Enemy Unknown, which will be a re-imagination of the old classic turn-based strategy game which was known as UFO: Enemy Unknown in UK, X-COM: UFO Defense in the United States and Japan, and as X-Com: Enemy Unknown on the Sony PlayStation.
