Battlefield 3 has fired the first salvos of the FPS Call of Duty vs Battlefield war by releasing before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Battlefield 3 has been available in North America and Australia for a few days now but it is finally available in shops all over Europe.
Arrowhead and Paradox have announced a new expansion for Magicka. It’s called The Stars Are Left, The press release states that its:
“Designed for players who love to craft the hundreds of different spells available in Magicka, this new campaign will pit up to four wizards at once against a horror-mystery inspired by the popular Cthulhu Mythos. The Stars are Left will boast a much requested feature from the players – a new adventure campaign, including several terrifying new enemies, bosses awakened from the depths of insanity, and several other miscellaneous Miskatonic minions.”
It also goes on to say that only the host of a multiplayer game will need the DLC for others to be able to play, which is good.
Heres a new preview trailer for the recently announced expansion for World of Warcraft, the Mists of Pandaria. Featuring those cute pandas (Pandaren) that all the cool kids are talking about.
Sengoku the latest game from strategy game masters Paradox Interactive is now available on all good digital stores. You can download the demo for Sengoku if you want. There’s a 15 year time limit, but it should help you to decide whether to buy it or not.
The actual release of Minecraft update 1.8 should be out in a few weeks but while you wait for that you can now try out the pre-release version of the Adventure Update. This update adds many new and cool features which you can see in the video above.

Terraria which is released tomorrow for the PC, is similar to Minecraft in that you can build and customise the environment. Minecraft’s emphasis on gathering raw materials, item crafting and defending yourself at night is also present in Terraria. However Terraria takes a 2D sprite based approach on these ideas and adds plenty of unique features to the mix it self.
Terraria is more action packed than Minecraft, with boss fights, and plenty of weapons and gadgets to be made and found. Terraria also features NPCs that sell items and once found will wait for you at your base. Multiplayer is also supported and encouraged.

You can watch them below, each video shows one of the four countries that feature during the game. They don’t show any actual gameplay but they do show detailed recreated city landscapes such as London.
Capcom has announced Dead Rising 2: Off The Record. This is Dead Rising 2 with photo freak Frank West, the guy from the first Dead Rising, he will be replacing Chuck Greene. Kind of strange concept for a new game when its gonna be similar, if they can smooth out the overall Dead Rising 2 experience and feature enough new content it should be worth playing through again.
This video shows the upcoming 1.5 update, which should arrive this week. Notch says that the “rain and especially thunder is waaay too common in this test, for demo purposes.”
It’s good that Minecraft is becoming more involving. I really like the rain effects and the snow makes it hard to see in front of you which snow does in real life.
