The decline of the MMORPG week.

This is a weekly post I do where I highlight some of the posts I have done which you might have missed over the last week. Another late one this week but I have been a bit busy doing a few other things. Look forward to some MMORPG reviews and guides for City for Steam hopefully during the week.

Minecraft Patch 1.3.0 and 1.3.1 is Now Available

This isn’t what I thought desert villages would look like.

Minecraft version 1.3.1 is now officially released for all you Minecraft fans to try out. This update is quite big and adds plenty of new features such as “demo mode for non-premium users”, “Adventure mode”, “trading”, various “Tempel” types, “Emerald Ore” and much more. They have also added cool little subtlety things like “water slowly drips through them when it’s raining” on leaves and cauldrons “slowly fill up when it’s raining”.

Rumor: Bethesda Now Owns S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Franchise Rights

Hopefully the future games will again be similar in tone to the 1979 film.

A Ukraine report has announced that apparently Bethesda Softworks the publisher of great games such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 3 have gained the publishing rights to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise. The new S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 game was canceled earlier this year when the developer GSC Game World when out of business.

A very MMORPG dominated week.

This is a weekly post I do where I highlight some of the posts I have done which you might have missed over the last week. It’s a bit late this week but I have been busy doing a few things. Look forward to my long opinion piece tomorrow morning about gender in games, films and the entertainment industry in general. It’s a long one.

TERA Summer Event Starts Next Week

That is one stylish rabbit thing. Run away!

Over at the action MMORPG combat orientated TERA, the unoriginal named Summer Event is starting soon. The event adds skimpy clothes and douchebag outfits for all the races in the game. There are also new achievements, prizes and a beach party. Which is just what you need to make you feel even more of a loser.

The Secret World Free Weekend Next Week

The best thing about The Secret World.

The developers of The Secret World revealed during an official live stream yesterday that The Secret World will be open for anyone to play next weekend. From 3rd August at 4pm GMT until 6th August at 7am GMT. This is to celebrate the games one month anniversary (seriously?), Funcom will be doing events, giving players fireworks and other rewards for completing a series of missions. However more importantly people who want to know more about what the game is about or try out The Secret World will be able to do so over the weekend without paying a single penny a part from a bit of your soul.

City of Steam Second Alpha Weekend is Now Available

I am glad this isn’t a swimming pool.

So you might be wondering what the feck is City of Steam? Is it some sort of Steam city building game? Well no its a free to play browser-based MMORPG similar in visual style and gameplay to games like Neverwinter Nights, Runescape, Baldur’s Gate with a bit of Vagrant Story. However what makes it different to these games is that it based on architecture and style of a steam punk universe. It is a pretty interesting take on the whole fantasy RPG theme.
