The Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo Is Now Available

The Crysis 2 multiplayer demo is now available from Steam and many other download sites. It is also available on Xbox 360 with a PlayStation 3 version arriving sometime in the future.

It is 1.5GB in size and contains two playable maps Skyline and Pier 17, both look completely different. Skyline is set on top of a skyscraper in New York while Pier 17 is set in a pier type setting (shock). Pier 17 is the better map because of its variety but Skyline is a good compact map. There are also two game modes, Team Instant Action (team deathmatch) and Crash Site (defend a location).

I have played the multiplayer demo a bit on the PC and it is certainly looking good. It might just be me but I am getting a bit tired of FPS multiplayer games, they all seem the same since Call of Duty 4. You just shoot things for points, upgrade weapons, kit, ranks and repeat over and over. The only difference comes with the use of your nano suit powers. You can use it to experiment with different tactics by either using stealth or brute force.

The game has come under some criticism for dumbing down to be more accessible for console users which may be true but that is the way the industry is heading these days. It doesn’t necessary mean its a bad thing.
