Developer IronOak Games and publisher Curve Games have announced recently that a Steam Closed Beta will begin on 10th May 2023 for their game, For the King II.
For The King II is the sequel to For The King, a great board game style RPG with strategy, turn-based combat, and roguelike elements. For The King, II is more of the same. It has more content and will now allow up to four-player co-op. The original allowed up to three players to play.
The Beta Includes:
- The first of five playable adventures.
- Single-player and multiplayer.
- Six character classes:
- Blacksmith.
- Scholar.
- Hunter.
- Stableboy.
- Herbalist.
- Alchemist.

The Closed Beta will run on Steam from 10th May 2023 (18:00 BST) until 16th May 2023 (18:00 BST). You will have to Request Access to take part in the beta.
I am a big fan of For The King. It blends several genres into an experience that feels different each time. The only problem with the first game is that it is unfairly difficult on the harder settings. It also needed more different story campaigns. Hopefully, the sequel fixes that.
For The King II will release on PC sometime in 2023. Expect console versions to follow after that.
