Publisher Bloober Team and developer Anshar Studios have shared their first official gameplay preview for Layers of Fear (2023). The re-imagination of the Layers of Fear series.
Layers of Fear (2023) is built on Unreal Engine 5 and supports modern gaming graphical effects such as Ray Tracing, HDR and 4K resolutions.
The game features the original Layers of Fear, Layers of Fear 2, and all DLCs. It includes a new chapter, “The Final Note,” which provides an alternate viewpoint of Layers of Fear (2016). It will also add a new story called “The Writer,” which ties each game in the series together.
While the game may feel familiar to people who played the original, the improved visuals and new mechanics, such as a lantern tool and remixed music, will mean there should be enough new content for old players.
I only played through some of the first game and thought that while it was enjoyable, it needed more interaction. It felt too passive. Hopefully, that was fixed in the sequel and in this remake.
Layers of Fear (2023) will be released sometime in June 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and X.
