Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo is Now Available

The film’s grain effect helps with the creepy vibe.

A new horror, adventure, visual novel game by Square Enix is out now. Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo see you solving a mystery that combines curses and the paranormal.

The game is set between the 1920s and 1980s in the Sumida Ward of Tokyo. It intertwines several character stories, all of which have been inflicted with a curse.

The main plot revolves around the ghost story of The Seven Mysteries of Honjo and how it may be able to resurrect people.

As it is a visual novel expect to do a lot of reading. It divides this up with investigation sections that take place in areas of the ward. Accurate photos of the Sumida ward are used in the background to give it a more immersive feeling.

I am a fan of Japan, so it might be worth playing through to see Sumida ward (Sumida City) up close.

As Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo combines drawn characters with photo backgrounds, it looks odd in some ways. I would have preferred all photos or all animated. However, they tried to blend the two. The end result is not too bad.

The game is available on PC and Nintendo Switch now, with an iOS and Android version coming out on the 9th of March.
