Death Stranding the upcoming game by Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions’ was livestreamed for about twenty-four hours and after that amount of time not much new information was revealed about the game, which at this point has remained mainly unknown.
The build-up for the announcement today was long and drawn out and in the end mostly anticlimactic. Sony ran a stream on Twitch just to release a trailer and a release date even though both were previously leaked. I was hoping for maybe a demo or that maybe they would embrace Early Access because the marketing used the phrases of “in your hands” and the like, a lot.
Death Stranding Release Trailer.
The game can be pre-ordered now from the PlayStaton Store. There is four different editions to choose from: the Standard Edition that costs about $59.99 all the way to the crazy Collectors Edition that cost $199.99 that contains a life-sized BB (Bridge Baby) Pod statue, a Bridges Cargo Case, and a Ludens Keychain. None of the editions seem very exiting or worth getting.
Will the all star cast of: Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Lindsay Wagner, Léa Seydoux and Guillermo del Toro make a diference to the overall game experience? I like the premise of the game and have enjoyed all of Hideo Kojima’s previous work but only time will tell if the game will be worth it, when the game is released on 8th November.
