Kalypso Media the producers of strategy games such as the Tropico, Port Royale, Patrician franchises and now Omerta: City Of Gangsters which is developed by Haemimont Games have released a free update a few days ago for everyone who owns the game on PC to download.
From cityofgangsters.com: “Kalypso Media today announced that a free gameplay update for its gangster-themed simulation game Omerta – City of Gangsters will available on 23rd May for the PC with the console version following soon. The update will download automatically for players when they next launch the game. As well an overhaul of the game interface and cover mechanics, the free update will add a host of new features including new sandbox game modes, new opposing gangs in single-player, rebalanced multiplayer modes and new multiplayer maps. Kalypso has also released a trailer featuring some of the new additions included in this update.”

The new update improves Omerta: City of Gangsters interface and cover mechanics and adds new sandbox game modes, new gangs in the single player campaign, new multiplayer maps and updated multiplayer modes. Rival gangs will also now be more aggressive meaning they will try to defend their territory more while at same time trying to take yours.
I haven’t played Omerta: City of Gangsters after it ended not getting many positive reviews but I will probably get it when it’s on a Steam sale. It is good that they are still providing new free and paid DLC and offering big updates like this. The game might not be that great but at least the developers are trying to make it better post release.
