An advertisement for Medal of Honor Warfighter on Electronic Arts Origin Store seems to reveal that customers who pre-order the game will gain access to a Battlefield 4 beta.
Battlefield 4 hasn’t yet been officially announced by Electronic Arts but the studio has confirmed in the past that it is working on a new entry in the Battlefield series along with all the upcoming Battlefield 3 DLC that’s coming out. The Origin listing appears to offer confirmation of it being worked on at the same time.
Battlefield 3 is one of the companies most financial successful games in recent years with it selling ten million copies to retailers on launch day. Electronic Arts also launched the Battlefield Premium subscription service last month which gives subscribers access to new content two weeks before it is made publicly available to everyone else. Premium can be acquired for a one time cost of £34.99 ($49.99).
I feel that them announcing or releasing Battlefield 4 already would be a mistake on Electronic Arts part seeing as they have plenty more they can do with Battlefield 3. I find it kind of weird that Electronic Arts uses it two Call of Duty competing FPS franchises Medal of Honor and Battlefield to promote each other such as they seem to be doing in this case. They did it before when Medal of Honor was rebranded to compete with Call of Duty’s modern setting and success. Who is going to buy Medal of Honor, Battlefield and Call of Duty? Only crazy gun nuts will.
I feel that this advert was probably accidentally put up to early or misprinted. It might be a completely different Battlefield game such as one for the Bad Company series.
