Sniper Elite V2 Demo is Now Available

The use of lasers was frowned upon.

The British games developer and publisher Rebellion has released a demo for the sequel to the excellent Sniper Elite. The demo is now available on Steam, Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

Sniper Elite was basically a sniper simulator with players using their trusty sniper rifle to take out various enemy targets across Europe. You would have to use sound and the environment to conceal your shots and movements. You could hold your breath to steady your hands and bullets would drop so you would have to aim above your target when shooting from long distances. It even had a pretty decent bullet time effect which would follow your bullet shots when you did a killing shot.

It was a great game. You could even wound a soldier so they would attract their comrades and why they are carrying their wounded friend over their shoulders you could then take both of them out. Also shooting a tank with a couple of shots was a satisfying if unrealistic experience. The game even had co-op which was pretty fun.

I hope Sniper Elite V2 will recapture that same sense of realism and grit of the first game.

This is a video showing what you can expect to see and do in Sniper Elite V2. It looks promising.

The demo is available now for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The actual game should be out on 4th May.
