Rumor: Bethesda Now Owns S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Franchise Rights

Hopefully the future games will again be similar in tone to the 1979 film.

A Ukraine report has announced that apparently Bethesda Softworks the publisher of great games such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 3 have gained the publishing rights to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise. The new S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 game was canceled earlier this year when the developer GSC Game World when out of business.

New Perks for Fallout: New Vegas

That perk is so last year.

There will be new perks in Fallout: New Vegas but a lot of the old perks will make a return exactly the same as before or with slight modifications. This is done to counter how easy it was to max out the player’s skills in Fallout 3, most of the skill-boosting perks from Fallout 3 have been removed and replaced. Unlike in Fallout 3 you now gain perks every two levels. There are 88 regular perks, 8 companion perks and other unknown amount of quest perks.

Common Fallout: New Vegas Questions and My Opinions

Seriously it's not Fallout 3, it's a new game. Raul here told me so.

Question: Have there been any graphical updates to the game engine?

Answer: Fallout 3’s engine was the natural choice for us, given the timeline we had and what we wanted to accomplish with the game. While we haven’t made direct changes to the engine to support enhanced graphics, we worked on the texture resolutions and made performance tweaks.

My Opinion: So it will basically look the same but sharper and smoother, less bugs. Seems like a repackaging of the old game to make cash from the success of Fallout 3.

My Opinion on Fallout: New Vegas Drugs, Prostitutes, Sex Robots and Rock ‘n’ Roll

While looking at Fallout: New Vegas rating and description at its Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) listing you might be surprised by some of the features it says the new game will have. This is my opinion on the following features and how this could be implemented and whether in general these are a good idea.

  • Male and Female Prostitutes
  • During the course of the game, players will encounter male and female prostitutes: the screen fades to black as suggestive dialogue is heard in the background (e.g., “Nice Charlies, too! Give them a shake for the Ben-man, will ya?”)

Having this in a game isn’t anything new with the Grand Theft Auto series being the masters. In Fallout this will be similar to the scenes in GTA IV when you invite your girl friend over for some ‘tea’. People hoping for a full on simulator like the one which was found hidden in the deep depths of GTA: San Andreas will be disappointed :p. I’m guessing you can’t beat them up for your nuka-cola caps back then. When using a black screen for a sex scene, good voice acting is of course important.
