Developer Petroglyph and publisher Frontier Foundry have released their World War I strategy game. It allows you to fight battles on the Western Front between 1914 to 1919.
There is still a lack of World War I games and even fewer good ones. The Great War: Western Front seems like a good one.
The game has real-time battles with a turn-based campaign map that allows you to select a side and change the course of history.
If you have played the Steel Division series, you will know how the battles play out. Controlling areas of the battlefield is important to winning. What makes this game different is that you can construct structures such as trenches and choose the placement of fortifications. The battlefield also changes during a cause of battle. Craters can be used as a cover or to hinder the enemy.
It also has a lot of historical detail, and you feel more immersed in the game. Even if you do not care about the World Wars but enjoy strategy games, you will probably have a good time.
The Great War: Western Front is now available for PC.
