Developer and publisher Ubisoft has released a new two-hour demo for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope on the Nintendo eShop. The sequel to Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, was largely praised by critics for its family-friendly take on the XCOM formula. It, however, didn’t apparently sell well or not enough.
The demo has two hours of gameplay where you explore and fight in Beacon Beach.
Also, the release coincides with the first DLC for the game. The DLC is called The Tower of Doooom and features a procedurally generated tower to fight in. While upgrading a randomly selected team of four characters and Sparks.
The Tower of Doooom is one of three post-launch DLC announced for Sparks of Hope. Also part of a Season Pass. The second DLC in summer will take players to a new planet, and a third starring Rayman will come out at the end of the year.
Enter the Tower of Doooom and meet its mysterious landlady, Madame Bwahstrella! Ascend the challenging tower to free your old friend Spawny in a new game mode focused on combat. Even if you can climb to the top, the end is only the beginning as you unlock new difficulty levels for infinite replayability! Build and upgrade your team throughout the expedition, plan strategically and triumph against all odds!
I haven’t played any of the Mario + Rabbids games. They have always looked appealing but seem to dumb down for my tastes. If characters like Mario could permanently die in them. I might be more likely to try it.
Mario + Rabbids may be a way to get people into strategy games. There aren’t too many choices for strategy titles on the Nintendo Switch.
