Microsoft announced recently at E3 that a new Killer Instinct game would be coming exclusively to the Xbox One and looks like an attempt to reboot the old franchise. Several screenshots and a video have been released since then. I have also included some information about the game, the franchise and the people behind Killer Instinct.

Killer Instinct is being developed by Rare and Double Helix Games. The game was announced during Microsoft’s E3 2013 press event. Killer Instinct will be a series reboot which will retain the combo-based gameplay with the ability to do very long combos but combos can be broken out of. This version of Killer Instinct will include “special attacks” which will work similar to the ones in the Street Fighter games.
Some people have being worrying about Double Helix Games being involved because they have made mostly average games with only Silent Hill Homecoming being the best, but even that game wasn’t the Silent Hill game many fans wanted and wasnt even released in Japan. However with the help of Rare, Double Helix Games could make a quite good fighting game, just look at Mortal Kombat (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) which many thought would be bad but turned out great.
I am a big fan of the first Killer Instinct on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System but that is the only one I played. I remember it being really good fun in single-player and multi-player but the last time I played it was around when it was still quite new and I havent tried it since. I am confident that this new Killer Instinct game could be a lot of fun as fighting games aren’t really hard to make and the Killer Instinct franchise hasn’t been milked like the rest of the fighthing game franchises for example Street Fighter II. As its been so long this version of Killer Instinct will at least seem a bit fresh and unique but I don’t think its going to sell a lot of Xbox One consoles by itself.
Killer Instinct will be for the Xbox One and expect it to come out around November at the earliest.
