Dead Island 2 is Now Available

The freaks come out at night.

Developer Dambuster Studios and publisher Deep Silver have finally released a new Dead Island. Dead Island 2 is an action role-playing zombie game and the third entry in the series.

The game has gone through several developers (Yager Productions and Sumo Digital) in its decade-long development before being made in-house. It was planned to have eight player co-op, but now a max of three players with a choice of six characters. The most noticeable difference is the setting of Los Angeles (HELL-A) compared to an island of the preview games.

The game takes place ten years after the events of Dead Island, and the United States government have put California under full quarantine because of a new outbreak. As Los Angeles is being quarantined, six “Slayers” attempt to board the last flight out of the city: hustler Bruno, mechanic Carla, retail worker Dani, exotic dancer Ryan, athlete Amy, and stuntman Jacob. However, the flight has an infected person on board, causing the army to shoot it down.

I have only played Dead Island and Dying Light. I enjoyed those games. Dead Island 2 is a welcome return to the initial formula with some new original additions. For some reason, they have not made the best game they could. Feels a bit rushed (somehow). There is probably enough fun to be had for fans of the genre.

Dead Island 2 is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X.
