Song of the Month (SOTM) is where I highlight my favourite song of the month. These posts will determine my Song of the Year (SOTY) at the end of the year. The same rules apply to SOTM as it does when writing my GOTY.
I use Spotify to determine which songs are my favourites. This means they are based on how often I have played it and may not be 100% accurate.
My SOTM for March 2023 is Ali Story with Higher Love, an electronic and house track. The song was released in 2021 as a single.
Ali Story is a DJ and producer, active since around 2020.
The song is very catchy. It slowly builds up with overlapping vocal samples over time and tells a story. It has a driving beat that builds to a crescendo when “I am a temple” comes up in the chorus.
I was disappointed to realise that by looking at the lyrics, she is saying, “I am a temple” instead of “I am the devil.” This made me like the song less, as saying “I am a temple” seems to fit the theme less well.

The song tells the tale of someone having to raise their game to worship and love someone greater than them.
I would like to see more tracks like this from Ali Story.
