People often when discussing Gearbox Software and its CEO Randy Pitchford talk about the mess that was Aliens: Colonial Marines and Duke Nukem Forever – but I haven’t trusted them since E3 2004 when they showed off Brother in Arms: Road to Hill 30.
Duke Nukem Forever was first announced in 1997, and became a legendary project for it never likely to be released.
3D Realms went bust in May 2009 thanks to a lack of funding, and was subsequently sued by Take-Two over lack of delivery for $12 million. Take-Two retained the rights to the game. Rumours surfaced at E3 that Gearbox was now in charge of the project.
Gearbox has confirmed that Duke Nukem Forever will be finally released, with boss Randy Pitchford confirming the game is coming next year. Pitchford has confirmed the game will release on PC, 360 and PS3.
In a short movie, the Duke was shown lighting a cigar, saying he’d “hit” a monster with tits and taking a piss in a toilet. Aliens, pig monsters and vehicle combat were also show.
