Capcom Might Remake Resident Evil 2

Capcom might consider remaking Resident Evil 2 if enough people want it to be done which shows they don’t want to take any financial risks these days. Of course if you ask first then you are guaranteed sales but that’s boring.

Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said: “Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there’s no rumor-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now but if the fans really clamor for it; if there’s a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that’s something Capcom would take under consideration.”

Capcom did release a remake of the first Resident Evil in 2002 for the classic Nintendo GameCube. This platform also had Resident Evil Zero and other versions of Resident Evil released such as Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4.

These games were related to a special deal Capcom and Nintendo had going to release new and exclusive games for the Nintendo GameCube. It was called The Capcom Five which represented an unprecedented level of third-party developer support for the Nintendo GameCube when the console itself was struggling. The games included P.N.03, Viewtiful Joe, Dead Phoenix, Resident Evil 4 and Killer7. All great games.

I feel the Nintendo GameCube should have really did better than it did especially compared to the Nintendo Wii which did well and is basically a gimmick.

So if they remake Resident Evil 2 to the same level of the orignal Resident Evil game then it should be worth checking out. The remake was one scary game back in the day.

The only problem with remaking Resident Evil 2 is what console do you release it for? Do you wait for the next generation of consoles for better graphical fidelity? Release on current consoles but which ones? or do you just release it for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita? I have no idea.
